Howl’s Moving Castle, Book Jacket Design
In the context of a class, we were given the task of designing an existing book’s dust jacket. We had to create the layout in InDesign accounting for the flaps, covers, spine, etc. We also had to define the typography, colour scheme, and imagery that matched the subject of the book. As I was reading this book by Diana Wynne Jones, I thought that the book cover looked a bit outdated and wanted to revamp it, using inspiration from its movie adaptation. I used Procreate to illustrate the background and small illustrations. I chose a bold serif font as it translates that the story takes place in a past time period as well as a script font to bring out the whimsical aspects.
