Circle of Life - Art Video

This video was made for a school project inspired by the work of Jean-Michel Othoniel 'Le Noeud Pivoine" (The Peony Knot) exposed in the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Our assignment was to analyze a selected piece of art and convey its essence and our interpretation through a different medium.

Jean-Michel Othoniel's artistic repertoire often revolves around flowers and their hidden symbolism. Although the wires supporting his sculptures create an illusion of lightness, the glass itself is actually quite heavy yet it remains very delicate. The beads in the sculpture form a continuous loop, devoid of any definitive starting or ending point, much like an eternal knot or the unending cycle of life. My intention for the video was to establish connections between the vibrant colors, the captivating beauty, and the inherent fragility of life with Othoniel's artwork. Moreover, I drew a lot of inspiration from the graceful lines, the pearl’s spherical shape, as well as the aesthetics which the author emphasizes.

SONG: Alan by Alexandre Desplat (Soundtrack from the movie The Imitation Game)
