Flipbook - Can't you see me?

This video was produced as part of a school assignment where we were given the task of creating our very own flipbook manually. The theme of the flipbook revolved around our personal perspective on texts we were given throughout our semester. My flipbook was created as a response to Hito Steyerl's article “In Defense of the Poor Image”. I wanted to explore the poor image, and how this relates to body image in the media as well as the impacts of social media and the Covid lockdown on our mental well-being. Each frame was meticulously hand-drawn by hand on 3x5 index cards, scanned individually, and later compiled. Subsequently, the scanned images were refined, transformed into a video format, enhanced with a background, slight visual effects, and color adjustments, and finally complemented with audio.
